Nter Talent is proud to be recruiting for a driven and commercially minded Category Manager/Buyer to join a high-performing Fresh Produce Purchasing team with a leading name in the grocery retail sector. This is an outstanding opportunity to take full ownership of a product range — shaping strategy, driving supplier relationships, and making a real impact on the shelves of stores across the US.

The Opportunity:

As Category Manager, you’ll manage your category end-to-end — from developing product strategies and managing suppliers to leading negotiations and promotional planning. You’ll thrive on working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products at competitive prices, while keeping an eye on trends and driving commercial performance.

Please note: This role is based full-time on site at the company’s Corporate Headquarters in Arlington, VA.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Take full ownership of your product range, developing and delivering category strategies that align with company goals
• Lead supplier negotiations, purchasing projects, and promotional activity
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth and innovation
• Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships and ensure seamless communication across internal teams, including Supply Chain and Logistics
• Analyze commercial data — managing turnover, margin, and pricing to maximize profitability
• Oversee all documentation for supplier contracts, product setup, and master data
• Support and guide junior team members when needed
• Deliver high-quality reports, presentations, and recommendations to senior leadership

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Merchandising, or a related field (or 5+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
• 3–5 years of experience in Purchasing, Category Management, or Produce, ideally in a retail or FMCG environment
• Proven experience managing supplier negotiations and driving category performance
• Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for commercial opportunities
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with ease
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
