About Opportunity
A global industrial automation leader is looking to expand its high-performance Sensor
Product Development division by hiring a world-class Encoder Technology Expert. With
operations across Asia and Europe, this innovation-driven company is a key provider of
advanced motion control, industrial automation, and smart manufacturing technologies to
a wide range of industries including robotics, machine building, and precision equipment
manufacturing.
This role plays a central part in the company’s global R&D strategy, with a strong focus on
enhancing encoder product capabilities for the European and international markets..
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support the design and development of general-purpose rotary and linear encoders, with a focus on optical, magnetic, and inductive technologies
- Develop and refine core algorithms, including those for grating scale processing and signal integrity
- Design hardware systems involving CMOS sensors, inductive chips, and micro inductor components
- Contribute advanced optical design expertise, especially for linear grating scale applications
- Collaborate closely with global R&D centres (Europe, Japan, China) to align design with international quality and innovation benchmarks
- Ensure product designs meet or exceed industry standards for accuracy, reliability, and functional safety
- Contribute to the development and production of high-precision optical scales and gratings
- Guide and mentor cross-functional engineering teams with deep technical input
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in encoder development at leading firms such as Heidenhain, Renishaw, Sick, Siemens, Baumer, Hengstler, or equivalent
- Expertise in at least one encoder technology area: Optoelectronic, Magnetoelectric or Inductive
- Deep R&D background in encoder or sensor product development
- Strong knowledge or experience in one or more of the following: M-sequence algorithms, Inductive principal design and simulation, CMOS image processing techniques, Mechanical multi-turn encoder architecture, Optical grating production, Functional safety requirements in sensor systems
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a global mindset
- Proficient in English (other languages such as German, Japanese, or Mandarin are a plus)
