Position Overview

We are seeking a Solar Engineer to support the design and execution of very large-scale solar PV projects serving university and college campuses across the Midwest. This role focuses on multi-megawatt systems integrated with complex campus electrical infrastructure, delivered within a design-build EPC framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineer large-scale and multi-MW solar PV systems, including ground-mounted, rooftop, and carport installations

• Lead electrical design development, including single-line diagrams, protection schemes, and equipment specifications

• Support medium-voltage interconnections, utility coordination, and AHJ approvals

• Collaborate closely with construction and project management teams to ensure constructability and schedule alignment

• Provide engineering support during construction, RFIs, commissioning, and system turnover

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

• 5–10+ years of experience on large-scale commercial or utility-scale solar projects

• Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE standards, and utility interconnection requirements

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and solar design / modeling tools (PVsyst, HelioScope, or similar)

Preferred

• PE license or EIT

• Experience with multi-MW institutional or utility-scale solar projects

• Familiarity with campus medium-voltage distribution and energy storage integration
