Job Title: Field Service Engineer – Robotics & Mechatronics 
Location: Remote (with travel across the UK & Ireland) 
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

This global company is renowned for delivering cutting-edge robotic and mechatronic 
solutions to some of the world’s leading manufacturers. As part of their ongoing growth, 
they are seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to join their UK-based team. 
This is a remote position with frequent travel across the UK and Ireland, supporting a wide 
range of high-tech robotic machinery and automation systems. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
 
  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain sophisticated robotic equipment including pick-and-place systems, tray loaders, case erectors, flow-wrappers, sealing machinery, and thermoforming applications.
  • Diagnose and repair complex systems involving PLCs, servo drives, PC-based controls, mechanical components, and pneumatics.
  • Provide proactive and reactive service support at customer sites, ensuring optimal performance of automation equipment.
  • Deliver training to customer operators and maintenance personnel on the proper use and upkeep of equipment.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor by identifying opportunities for improvement, upgrades, or additional solutions, and communicating these to the technical management team.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with customer contacts to ensure high levels of satisfaction and support.
  • Represent the company with professionalism, delivering clear and effective communication in all client interactions.
  • Participate in occasional overseas training and support visits, primarily to the company’s headquarters in Germany. 
 
Skills & Experience Required:
 
  • A background in Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in the service or manufacturing of packaging machinery or automation systems.
  • Experience with robotic systems is highly desirable.
  • Solid working knowledge of servo drives, PLCs, and PC-based control systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for technical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build strong rapport on-site.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to new challenges and technologies.
  • Innovative thinker who enjoys solving complex problems and contributing ideas.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and eligibility to work and travel within the UK and Europe.
