We’re currently offering an exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity to join a well-established defence and engineering business at the forefront of military-grade vehicle systems and large-scale mechanical fabrications.

The Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team supporting continuous improvement and operational efficiency across production. This is a hands-on position, focused on developing and refining manufacturing processes to improve quality, reduce waste, and ensure smooth product flow across large, complex fabrication projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and develop manufacturing methods for large, high-spec fabrications.
- Drive improvements in cycle times, changeovers, and overall efficiency through lean tools and techniques.
- Analyse quality and production data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate cross-functional improvement plans and lead structured problem-solving initiatives (8D or similar).
- Apply modern manufacturing principles to reduce cost and improve delivery without compromising on safety or quality.
- Collaborate with design and development teams to ensure manufacturability of new products.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
- Support capital investment projects and contribute to a culture of operational excellence.
What We’re Looking For
- HND, Higher Apprenticeship, or ideally Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
- Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably within an industrial, defence, or technical environment.
- Proven success in delivering production improvements and lean initiatives.
- Knowledge of complex fabrication and assembly processes.
- Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems would be advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, with excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
