Manufacturing Facilities Manager

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Facilities Manager to lead the strategic and operational management of all facilities and infrastructure across manufacturing sites. This role is critical in ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant operations that support advanced manufacturing processes and ongoing business growth.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a 3-year facilities strategy, managing capital projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading a team of facilities and maintenance professionals. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive 3-year rolling facilities plan aligned with business objectives and operational requirements.
• Lead capital planning initiatives including budgeting, project justification, and overseeing facility upgrades and expansions.
• Manage all aspects of vendor relationships, including procurement, contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and compliance.
• Oversee daily operations and maintenance of manufacturing facilities to ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to minimise downtime and support uninterrupted manufacturing processes.
• Ensure all facilities comply with defence industry security and safety regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards.
• Supervise, train, and develop a team of facilities and maintenance staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Monitor and control operating costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising on safety or quality.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs and emergency response plans to ensure facility reliability and resilience.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with all relevant defence sector regulations.
• Prepare and present regular reports on facility performance, capital projects, and budget updates to senior leadership.
• Monitor facility performance and track KPIs to ensure optimal operation.
• Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate safety hazards.
• Plan and coordinate facility upgrades, renovations, and capital improvement projects to support advanced manufacturing.
• Uphold and drive a “world-class” vision for site facilities and operational standards.
• Develop and enhance the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to drive continuous improvement in facilities performance.
• Foster a culture of continual improvement within the Facilities Team, including practical problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
• Prepare RFQs, conduct contract reviews, and manage risk associated with facilities procurement and project delivery.

Essential Requirements:

• HNC/HND in a relevant engineering or technical discipline (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of applicable regulations (e.g., LOTO, PUWER, etc.).
• Occupational Health and Safety certifications such as NEBOSH or OSHA.
• Proven experience delivering Capital Expenditure (CapEx) programmes.
• Practical experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of safe contractor control practices.
