Mechanical Structural Quality Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical / Structural Quality Engineer to support active Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites. In this role, you will focus on evaluating, maintaining, and improving the mechanical and structural integrity of operational BESS assets. You’ll work directly with site teams, field technicians, and engineering groups to assess equipment conditions, identify risks, and ensure safe and reliable operation.

This is an on-site, field-based role supporting active BESS projects.

As a Mechanical / Structural Quality Engineer, you will:

• Perform on-site inspections of cabinets, enclosures, racks, foundations, HVAC mounts, fire systems, and all mechanical/structural components of live BESS assets.
• Identify degradation, mechanical failure modes, or structural risks and support timely corrective actions.
• Assess installation workmanship and long-term equipment integrity in accordance with engineering standards.
• Support fault investigations related to vibration, thermal expansion, corrosion, weather exposure, component fatigue, or enclosure integrity.
• Work closely with field technicians and engineering to provide guidance on repairs, retrofits, and mechanical improvements.
• Review site conditions and verify mechanical/structural compliance during upgrades, retrofits, or warranty work.
• Develop inspection criteria, checklists, and field documentation for mechanical/structural health.
• Participate in root cause analysis for site incidents involving mechanical or physical failures.
• Support customer inspections and prepare site audit reports.
• Track structural/mechanical findings across sites and recommend continuous improvements to equipment design and field standards.

What the ideal candidate brings:

• Experience with mechanical systems in field environments such as BESS, solar, utilities, power generation, or industrial sites.
• Knowledge of structural components, enclosures, mounting systems, and environmental impacts on equipment.
• Ability to assess mechanical risks on active sites and guide safe, compliant corrective actions.
• Strong understanding of drawings, schematics, and mechanical standards.
• Excellent communication and field documentation skills.
• Hands-on, proactive mindset suitable for outdoor, real-world BESS conditions.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering preferred; relevant field experience accepted.
• 5+ years in mechanical/structural field engineering, inspections, or quality roles.
• Experience with BESS or electrical infrastructure is a strong plus.
