General Manager

Nter Talent is proud to be supporting our client, a leading logistics organisation, in the search for a General Manager to lead operations at their high-volume distribution centre in York.

This is a key leadership role with full site responsibility, offering the opportunity to shape culture, improve performance, and drive results in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

The Role

As General Manager, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of the site—ensuring safe, efficient, and high-performing warehousing and transport operations. Working closely with the wider leadership team, you’ll drive strategic initiatives, develop people, and lead continuous improvement efforts to meet commercial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, inspire, and develop a large multi-functional team across warehousing and transport

• Own site performance across safety, service, cost, quality, and delivery

• Build and execute the site’s operational strategy in line with broader business objectives

• Oversee site budgeting, forecasting, and cost control

• Foster a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with all legal and regulatory standards

• Drive continuous improvement through data-driven decisions and lean practices

• Collaborate cross-functionally with senior stakeholders to ensure seamless supply chain execution

About You:

• Proven experience as a General Manager or senior operations leader within logistics, 3PL, retail or FMCG environments

• Strong knowledge of distribution centre operations, including warehousing and transport

• A credible and confident leader with experience managing large teams in a high-pressure setting

• Commercially astute with strong financial and budget management skills

• Passionate about people, safety, and service delivery

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
