THE ROLE

The Director of Planning is a critical leadership position responsible for building and leading the company's end-to-end operational planning function.

The role will translate demand forecasts into executable operational plans across fulfilment and last-mile delivery, ensuring the business is optimised for service, efficiency and scalability.

You will own the capacity planning, labour planning and scheduling strategy while driving continuous improvement through data, technology and strong cross-functional alignment.

The Director of Planning will work closely with Operations, Transportation, Supply Chain, Demand Planning and Technology to balance customer demand with operational constraints, service requirements and cost efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own end-to-end operational planning, translating demand forecasts into execution across fulfilment and last-mile delivery.

• Lead capacity and labour planning to align volume, productivity and service-level targets.

• Partner closely with Demand Planning to improve forecast accuracy and effectively manage demand variability.

• Develop and enhance planning models, tools and reporting to enable data-driven operational decision-making.

• Drive productivity improvements and cost optimisation across operational functions.

• Lead peak and seasonal planning, including contingency strategies to manage fluctuations in demand.

• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Transportation and Technology to ensure planning is aligned with operational execution.

• Develop planning strategies that support business growth, scalability and customer service objectives.

• Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, systems and operational efficiency.

• Use data and analytics to identify trends, risks and opportunities and translate these into actionable plans.

• Build, lead and develop a high-performing planning team focused on performance, accountability and continuous improvement.

• Influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across multiple functions.

ABOUT YOU

• 8–10+ years of experience in planning, analytics, operations strategy or supply chain management.

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent practical experience.

• Advanced degree such as an MBA, MS in Supply Chain, Analytics or a related field is preferred.

• Proven experience working in a high-volume operational environment such as e-commerce, grocery, retail, logistics or last-mile delivery.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience in data modelling, forecasting and scenario planning.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.

• Experience with planning tools and BI platforms such as Tableau or Power BI.

• SQL experience is highly desirable.

• Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable operational plans.

• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders.

• Strong people leadership experience, with a proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly.

• Strong commercial understanding, with the ability to balance customer service, operational performance and cost.

This role sits at the intersection of demand, operations, fulfilment and transportation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the organisation has the right capacity, labour and operational resources in place to meet customer demand while maintaining service levels and controlling costs.

You will bring structure, analytical rigour and forward planning to a complex, high-volume operation, while developing the people, processes and technology required to scale the planning function.
