MANUFACTURING / PROJECT ENGINEER

This is a hands-on engineering and project management position with responsibility for managing projects ranging from productivity and process improvements through to capital investment projects involving new machinery and equipment.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors and management to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget, whilst supporting continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Take ownership of engineering and capital projects from initial planning through to completion.
• Manage project teams and coordinate activities across internal departments, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
• Manage project costs, budgets and schedules to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Prepare subcontractor reports and provide regular updates to management on project progress.
• Participate in supplier visits, equipment reviews and technical discussions.
• Receive, review and submit technical and project documentation for approval.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date information across document control, project management systems and other databases.
• Attend project meetings and provide updates on project tasks, milestones and progress.
• Install, monitor, test, service and troubleshoot equipment and engineering systems.
• Develop technical and engineering data and procedures covering Preventive Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates and operating procedures.
• Identify and implement engineering improvements to existing equipment, processes and systems.
• Act as the on-site technical interface for equipment and system installation, testing, fabrication and other project activities.
• Provide technical information and evaluations for spare components required for equipment and systems, including suitable existing or successor components.
• Ensure established production processes are followed in accordance with SQF requirements.
• Maintain appropriate housekeeping standards, including personal tools and project work areas, in line with SQF requirements.
• Participate in supplier training for new and existing equipment and systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and reducing inefficiencies within the Engineering Department.
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of safety policies and regulations and ensure all duties are performed safely.
• Perform other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or a related Engineering discipline.
• An Associate degree (A.S.) in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or a related Engineering discipline will also be considered.
• 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience considered.
• Experience working as part of a team.
• Experience managing capital investment projects, including machine design with suppliers, project timing, budgeting and project management, is highly desirable.
• Experience working within manufacturing environments, including manufacturing processes, equipment design and construction.
• Strong technical background combined with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate others.
