Overview
Committed and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our vibrant night shift team working full-time with 10-hour shifts from Monday - Friday, hours of work each week will be on a rota system of 16:00 – 02:00, 18:00 – 04:00 and 21:00 – 07:00. Hours may vary to suit operational needs.
A strong understanding of the container industry with prior experience with container planning, and Port / Rail Terminal VBS systems is desirable for this position.
This role demands strong analytical abilities, effective communication, and the capability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
• Effectively deliver a demanding night shift work profile, making positive live amendments to the plan throughout the shift to achieve required delivery expectations.
• Analyse data to identify trends and make informed logistics decisions.
• Manage relationships with customers and drivers, delivering exceptional service and promptly addressing any concerns.
• Use IT systems, including TOPS, VBS, Excel and Word, to maintain accurate records and generate reports.
• Lead initiatives focused on enhancing transport efficiency and effectiveness.
• Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth operations within the office environment.
• Provide a thorough and detailed Handover to Day shift teams.
• Work in line with company mission statement of promoting Honesty, Transparency and Unity so that as a business we can collaborate and navigate any problematic occurrences which arise.
• Make real-time operational decisions to resolve issues such as delays.
Requirements
• Proven experience in transport planning within the container sector, is desirable.
• Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication.
• Previous experience with operating systems – TOPS (container transport system), Various VBS systems, Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to manage client expectations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.
• Strong IT skills, with a quick adaptability to new software and technologies.
• Exceptional organisational skills and keen attention to detail.
Pay: £34,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
