Role: Director of Sourcing & Procurement

Nter Talent are supporting a leading manufacturing organisation with the appointment of a Director of Sourcing & Procurement. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced procurement professional with a strong background in food manufacturing, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and SAP-driven procurement environments.

The successful candidate will lead domestic and global sourcing operations, overseeing procurement strategy across ingredients, packaging, raw materials, MRO, and indirect spend categories. This role will play a key part in driving cost optimisation, supplier performance, operational continuity, and long-term sourcing strategy within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing and procurement strategies aligned with business growth, profitability, and operational objectives

• Lead strategic supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost reduction initiatives across multiple spend categories

• Manage and optimise global supplier relationships to ensure quality, service, continuity, and compliance standards are maintained

• Partner closely with executive leadership, operations, R&D, quality, and finance teams to support production planning and new product initiatives

• Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team, driving accountability, succession planning, and continuous improvement

• Analyse commodity markets, supply risks, and market trends to proactively mitigate disruption and maintain supply continuity

• Drive supplier performance management through KPIs, scorecards, and ongoing vendor development programmes

• Oversee procurement systems, policies, and process improvements to support scalability and operational efficiency

• Support sustainability, ESG, and responsible sourcing initiatives across the supplier network

• Ensure compliance with FDA, FSMA, AAFCO, USDA, and relevant regulatory requirements

• Manage procurement budgets, forecasting, and reporting metrics for senior leadership

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive sourcing, procurement, or supply chain leadership experience within food manufacturing, CPG, pet food, or related manufacturing environments

• Strong background in strategic sourcing, buying, supplier negotiations, and contract management

• Proven experience managing complex global supplier networks across ingredients and packaging categories

• Experience operating within commodity-driven manufacturing environments with a track record of delivering measurable cost savings

• Strong ERP systems knowledge, particularly SAP, alongside procurement and spend analytics tools

• Experience leading procurement transformation, supplier performance programmes, and cross-functional initiatives

• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills with the ability to influence at executive level

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CPSM, CPIM, or equivalent certifications preferred
