The Opportunity
We are working with a leading data center provider who is hiring multiple Facility Engineers to join a newly forming Data Center Operations team in Sterling, Virginia.
The facility is preparing to become fully operational, with engineers joining ahead of go-live to complete onboarding, site familiarisation, training and operational readiness.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with experience working within Data Centers, Critical Facilities, Mission Critical environments, nuclear facilities, military infrastructure or other high-availability environments.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong electrical background, alongside the ability to troubleshoot critical infrastructure and operate safely within a live facility.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, monitor and maintain critical Data Center infrastructure.
Perform routine inspections and operational checks across electrical and mechanical systems.
Troubleshoot electrical equipment and identify faults before they impact operations.
Support electrical switching, isolation and safe working procedures.
Monitor critical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers, PDUs and associated electrical infrastructure.
Respond to alarms, equipment failures and operational incidents.
Support preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
Assist with site commissioning, operational readiness and facility mobilisation.
Complete site training, technical courses and equipment-specific qualifications.
Follow operational procedures, safety requirements and escalation processes.
Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance records and operational documentation.
Work alongside other Facility Engineers, Chief Engineers and Operations leadership.
Support contractors and vendors completing maintenance or specialist works onsite.
Participate in emergency response activities when required.
Help create and maintain a strong safety and operational culture across the site.
What We Are Looking For
We are identifying candidates who combine technical capability with the right attitude.
Ideal candidates will have:
Previous Data Center / Critical Facilities experience preferred.
Strong electrical troubleshooting experience.
Experience working around critical electrical infrastructure.
Understanding of equipment such as UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers and PDUs.
Mechanical knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
Experience within mission critical, nuclear, military, utilities, industrial or similar environments will also be considered.
Ability to work within a 24/7 operational environment.
Flexibility to work day, swing or night shifts.
Strong safety awareness.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.

Shift Pattern
The facility operates 24/7, therefore engineers must be comfortable working a rotating shift structure.
Shifts may include:
Day shifts
Swing shifts
Night shifts
Weekday and weekend coverage
The role will average approximately 40 hours per week.
Candidates who are flexible around night-shift coverage will be particularly valuable to the team.
